Lanzarote

Oct. 17, 2019

Black lava rock stretches across the island, interrupted by various types of cacti. Rugged and barren is the landscape of Lanzarote, but if you do not expect beautiful sandy beaches, you will be surprised with an incomparable beauty.

In the bays, the blue of the water through the black rock literally lights up and the island surprises with small caves. It‘s best to grab a vehicle and explore the island on your own. And be enchanted by its uniqueness. The crowning glory is a detour to the harbor to taste crabs in garlic oil.

Since the partially meter-thick dark volcanic ash heats up during the day and absorbs moisture from the air at night, Lanzarote is very suitable for growing wine.

Don‘t wait for it to happen. Go make it happen.

EU citizens can stay indefinitely on the island and require an ID card or passport to enter. If you come from another country, you will need a visa after three months.

      The greatest wealth is health.

In addition to medical practices there are also well-equipped clinics on the island. Even in smaller places, the medical care is guaranteed. The medicines and treatments must be paid locally. With a receipt, however, the costs will be reimbursed by the German health insurance. On Lanzarote the standard vaccinations are sufficient.

Food for the body is not enough. There must be food for the soul.

Water from the tap should be avoided. Popular dishes often include freshly caught fish or meat, as well as various vegetables. One of the highlights are crabs in garlic oil. Lanzarote is a popular wine-growing region. So if you like to drink wine, this is the place for you.

        how to get around

There are public buses and taxis on the island. However, who likes to be independent should definitely borrow a vehicle. I would advise you to rent a car or a motorbike. There are well-known spots on the island, but it‘s best to just drive off and be surprised.
