Feb. 13, 2020

Many years ago we've been in Greece for two weeks. And even though this trip took place so long ago, we didn‘t want to keep these pictures from you. Because Greece is a great travel spot. The history of Greece can be felt in every stone. And if you‘re really interested in history, you‘ve come to the right place.

But there is much more to see and experience. You can hike here, lie on the beach, visit islands and enjoy beautiful sunsets. There is something for everybody. Not to mention the delicious Greek food ...

        The greatest wealth is health.

If you travel to Greece, you must definitely be vaccinated against measles. WHO has declared that omitting the vaccine as a „threat to global health“. For Greece, the usual vaccine protection is sufficient. In northern Greece there is a low risk of early summer meningoencephalitis transmitted by ticks. TBE vaccination is advisable for special exposure in this area.

In Greece, all persons who are legally insured in Germany are entitled to urgently required treatment from doctors and hospitals approved by the foreign statutory health insurance provider. The European health insurance card or a replacement certificate must be presented as proof. You can obtain both documents from your health insurance company. You should contact your health insurance provider before you travel.

Food for the body is not enough. There must be food for the soul.

Greek food is one of the best food in Europe. Fresh vegetables, fishes & seafoods play a significant role in the Greek dishes. One of the best dishes are Greek salad, Gyros, Bifteki, Souvlaki, Tzatziki and fresh olives. There are also great desserts and wines in Greece. You should try everything!

            how to get around

In Greece you can get around by bus, ferry or taxi. It depends in which area you are. However, since a lot is away from big cities and the public transport connections there are not so good, you should consider renting a car.

              mediterranean climate

Greece has a predominantly Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, humid winters. Only in the mountain regions and on Crete can snow be expected in the winter months. The months of June to September are best for a beach holiday on the Mediterranean. City tours should be put in spring or autumn because of the hot summer days.

In Greece you pay with Euro. Credit cards are widely used, but you should have cash with you, especially in more rural areas.

                  fave spots

It depends on what interests you most about Greece. There are many spots with a historical background, there are great beaches and beautiful islands with crystal clear water. But Hydra fascinated me the most. There you can find the typical picture of Greece: blue water, white houses, blue shutters and red flowers.
