London

Feb. 14, 2020

London is full of sights. There is something to discover on every corner. But I was most impressed by the different people. Hardly any other place has so many different styles and attitudes at once. There are those who live for the royal family and are familiar with all the stories and the gossip.

There are the typical British gentleman and the fine lady. Very classic and reserved. And there is the punk and rock scene that meets all night in bars and clubs and who live out their style down to the smallest detail. No matter which street you walk in London, you can see all kinds of people everywhere and that fascinated me a lot.

London is one of the world’s top 10 most expensive cities. Even a short visit to London can set you back a pretty penny. The cost of living in London may be high, but the city also has one of the highest numbers of billionaires in the world.

Don‘t wait for it to happen. Go make it happen.

As an EU member, you can enter with a passport or identity card. Otherwise, entry is only possible with a valid passport. The passport should be valid for at least six months. Since Brexit is changing a lot in the UK at the moment, you should definitely inform yourself about the current regulations before your trip.

        The greatest wealth is health.

If you travel to London, you must definitely be vaccinated against measles. WHO has declared that omitting the vaccine as a „threat to global health“. For London, the usual vaccine protection is sufficient.

Changes may occur after December 31, 2020. It must then be expected that claims based on the European Health Insurance (EHIC) will no longer be possible. It is therefore recommended to take out private travel health and return insurance.

Food for the body is not enough. There must be food for the soul.

Well I think I will skip this topic. Maybe you should try the notorious fish and chips.

            how to get around

You can get around by underground, overground, DLR, bus, tram, boat or taxi. The best way to get around London is by their amazing underground rail system. The “Tube”, as it’s fondly called, covers 250 miles and has 11 different lines and 270 stations across London. It is well known for its efficiency and ease of use.

              City of Rain

London is also called „City of Rain“. London is in the temperate climate zone. The climate is therefore determined by warm, but rarely hot summers and cool winters, in which the temperature drops below zero for only a few days. The weather is heavily traversed by precipitation. The rainiest month is July, followed by September and March.

The local currency is the British pound sterling (GBP). Withdrawing cash from ATMs and paying with credit cards are possible nearly everywhere.

                  fave spots

There are great tourist spots like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge,... But I really loved relaxing in Hyde Park and watching all the different people walking down the streets. Almost nowhere there is such a wide variety of different people.
